MIT visits packaging specialist PackEx

Individual folding boxes in 72 hours / MIT Chairwoman Muth: "We are impressed! / Praise for sustainability and customer orientation

WORMS. Success in business does not automatically mean "bigger and bigger and more and more". We at PackEx have understood this. Unlike a purely product- and company-oriented approach, our digital business model is built on the needs of our customers. To date, our service offering is unique.

The Mittelstands- und Wirtschaftsunion (MIT) and the member of the Bundestag, Jan Metzler, found out exactly how everything works on site. And they did so directly in the Mittelrheinstraße, where production takes place. Marco Dembowski and Julian Erhard from PackEx also provided first-hand information. The conclusion of the MIT chairwoman, Iris Muth, after the tour was clear: "We are thrilled! Our concept was also praised with regard to customer orientation and sustainability. The Worms business wing of the CDU, which was represented that day by Thomas Dick, Björn Krämer, Barbara Wirth and Johan Nock, was also pleased that our PackEx founders had chosen Worms as their location in 2017. The Nibelungenstadt had prevailed among 35 alternatives, as the managing director, Nikolas Reichenbach, revealed. PackEx currently employs 20 people. And we want to continue to grow strongly.

The key to success

The conditions for this are obviously very good. Because PackEx offers something extraordinary: we process all orders for packaging from 1 to 5,000 pieces completely digitally. This offers customers many new possibilities. For example, they can create and order folding boxes online around the clock and from anywhere. In future, they will be able to create 3D prototypes and order batches, virtually store their packaging stock and transparently calculate all costs incurred. We are the first folding box producer on the market with a fully digitalised and automated business model across all process stages. This allows us to produce packaging very quickly, in excellent quality. In addition, our prices are far below the current market level.

PackEx is a subsidiary of the August Faller Group based in Waldkirch, which is no stranger to its segment. Every third folding box in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sector comes from there, as Reichenbach explains. Studies also prove the need for our PackEx range, which is open to all sectors. According to these studies, the life cycle of a product package is now only 6.6 months on average. This shows that the market is becoming increasingly dynamic. In addition, about a quarter of corporate customers require seasonal packaging or special packaging in limited quantities. In such cases, a lot of packaging remains unused when quantities are high.

PackEx focuses on quality and state-of-the-art technology. This includes, among other things, automated printing (offset and digital), the high-power laser and video-based quality assurance. This means that packaging defects are impossible with us. PackEx can therefore react very quickly and flexibly to customer requests. Customers in turn benefit from short production and delivery times. True to the PackEx slogan: "Individual folding boxes in 72 hours."
