Unique digital service: Start-up PackEx revolutionises folding carton production

Worms, 19 February 2019 - With the founding of its subsidiary PackEx GmbH, August Faller GmbH & Co. KG has innovated the ordering process, production and delivery of folding boxes in small batches: After a one-year preliminary phase, PackEx now handles the entire folding box production completely digitally. As a result, our customers can order folding boxes online across all industries quickly, cost-effectively, in a resource-saving manner and with completely new possibilities in the supply chain. The production location is Worms, Rhineland-Palatinate.

At the point of sale in just a few days: the digitisation of all stages of folding box production makes this possible. At PackEx, we focus on small series of 1 to 5,000 pieces. We thus meet the increasing demand on the packaging market for individual folding boxes in small and very small quantities flexibly and economically. Orders are processed via a professional web-based software solution, the PackEx Portal. PackEx produces across all industries - from consumer goods to the food industry.

Folding box on demand

Our customers benefit from a smart ordering process and significantly shorter production and delivery times. The PackEx delivery promise is: within 72 hours via express parcel shipping. The result is a faster time to market with significant cost savings.
We would like to encourage a rethink with the so-called virtual warehouse in our PackEx portal. Instead of bulk procurement combined with high warehousing costs and potential destruction costs, we offer fast delivery in demand-driven runs at the push of a button.

Efficient and error-free

In addition, PackEx uses video-based quality assurance. Manual spot checks do not do justice to a modern digital workflow. That's why we use Video Quality Assurance, which ensures not only optimal process speed but also greater security.

Conserving resources in all areas

In automated order processing procedures, orders are combined, printed together on collective sheets and punched or lasered. With this, we at PackEx take up another topic that is close to our hearts: environmental protection. We contribute to a better eco-balance by producing short runs with a significantly reduced use of resources. This is evident in all areas of production as well as in logistics. For example, PackEx has switched from shipping by truck on Euro pallets to shipping by parcel. This results in lower transport costs and fewerCO2 emissions. The resource-saving and flexible production process leads to the avoidance of about 1,389 tonnes of waste per year - this is roughly equivalent to the weight of over 1,000 VW Golf vehicles.

Production location Worms offers numerous advantages

The decision to locate in Worms was made because of the good transport connections. This allows our company to reach almost all regions of the country quickly and efficiently. In addition, we are making a conscious commitment to Germany as a business location.
